Getting started

Five minutes from sign-in to your first finished report. Questions at any point: reply to any of our emails or write to signal@gighz.com.

1. Start dictating

Open the app and allow microphone access when your browser asks. At the top you will see the large green button:

🎤 Start dictating

The dictation button at the top of the app. F4 also starts and stops it.

  1. Click Start dictating.
  2. Begin with the study type, then dictate your findings normally.
  3. As you dictate you will see “Placing your dictation…” while the matching template appears and fills in live.
  4. When finished, click Stop and give the system a moment to finish placing everything into the report and impression.
  5. Review or edit anything — click any line to hand-edit it.
  6. Click Finalize Report.
  7. The button becomes Copy to Clipboard — paste the report into your reporting system.
Example of a complete dictation: “CT abdomen and pelvis with contrast. Right lower quadrant pain. Appendix is dilated to 10 mm with wall thickening and surrounding inflammatory change. No abscess. No free air. Mild reactive right lower quadrant lymph nodes. Liver, spleen, pancreas, kidneys, and adrenal glands are unremarkable.”

You do not need to dictate in perfect order — findings land in the appropriate sections as you go. Dictate only the positives; the normals fill themselves. You can also type findings into the text area instead of speaking, then press Create Report.

Never enter patient names, MRNs, or other identifiers. The app does not need them to produce a report.

2. Make the template yours

When a study is detected, a green strip appears just above the transcription area:

We detected your study  ·  CT Abd/Pelvis · CT · Non-contrast
Keep ACR ✓
✏️ Make it mine

The template strip. Leave it alone, or reshape it.

Happy with the detected ACR-style template? Leave it alone. Want the report structured differently? Click Make it mine — modify that study’s template and save it as your version. It becomes your default for that study from then on. Useful for:

  • different section organization
  • more prose-style reporting
  • additional or consolidated sections
  • your own preferred wording

It is a powerful feature and rewards a little experimentation — it exists for radiologists who want the output to follow their own reporting style.

3. Optional output settings

⚙️ Output options ▲
☑ Patient Education
☐ Billing Codes
☐ Signature
💾 Save

Output options, top-left. None of these are required for routine dictation.

These can optionally append Patient Education, Billing Codes, or your Signature to reports. Set once, click Save, forget.

4. Other tools

🚨 Critical Note
⋯ More ▾
🔬 Protocol Lookup
📚 Appropriateness Lookup

Below the transcription area.

  • Protocol Lookup — questions like “how do I protocol a CT venogram?”
  • Appropriateness Lookup — which imaging study fits a given clinical situation.

Both are reference and teaching tools — not required for routine dictation.

5. Tell us what’s wrong

This is an actively developing system and your feedback genuinely shapes what gets fixed next. At the bottom of each report:

🐛 Report an issue with this dictation

Use it whenever something doesn’t work, the wording is wrong, or something should be added, removed, or simplified.

Or just email signal@gighz.com — we are very responsive to issues and feature requests. If something is getting in your way, tell us rather than working around it.
